Nanoq - The Arctic Museum
In June 1991, Finland’s first arctic museum opened its doors in Pietarsaari. The museum’s name Nanoq is Greenlandic and means polar bear.
At Nanoq you can get acquainted with arctic cultures, history and nature and hear exciting stories about famous expeditions to the North and South Pole.
Nanoq is located in the middle of the forest, in a peaceful environment. The museum consists of a large main building and several small cottages, each of which has its own story to tell.
Buy a ticket to the museum and get access to our main building and beautiful open air museum.
The museum is open daily during the summer months. Between September and May the museum is open after request.
