A Day with a Local in Kalajoki on the Arctic Coast of Finland

We are Helena and Sanna – an we would like to invite you to discover our ”hoods” in Kalajoki. We are proud to present you the authentic way of living at the arctic coast, including our favourite places of our home town. This is the closest you can get in discovering the true lifestyle of the locals!

Depening on customers’s wishes the timetable can be adjusted with other program they might have at the area, and wishes the guest might have with regard the program will be taken into consideration.

Here is an example what the day can include:
• get to know the city of Kalajoki and its 500-year-old history in short – walking tour in the old town of Plassi and in the city center
• daily shopping of grocheries at a local supermaket
• visit to a local home with a Finnish coffee break – sweet and savory snack will be served with coffe/tea/juice
• experience the combination of seaside and forest in one of Kalajoki’s many nature destinations – depending on weather the coffee break can also take place in the middle of nature
• seasonal flavour such as wool-sock walk, walking on the ice, berry picking, cold dip…
• visit to a 50-year-old local pottery, with possibility to visit the studio and buy local souvenirs.

Option: if the tour takes place on Wednesday or Saturday towards evening, a Village Sauna experience at Linnakallio can be included in the program.
