Hiking trails in Kronoby
For those who appreciate nature experiences, Kronoby offers excellent opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities. Long nature trails and illuminated ski tracks provide great fitness moments in all seasons.
In the municipality of Kronoby, you can hike to your heart’s content. Along the fitness trails, you can enjoy cultural landscapes, see churches, stone cairns, and prehistoric dwelling sites.
There are six hiking trails in the municipality. The lengths of the trails vary from a couple of kilometers to over 20 kilometers. Along the trails, there are resting spots where you can make a campfire, as well as lean-tos.
The Nedervetil hiking trail has four loops: the Konama loop, which is 9.1 km, the Brännbacka loop, which is 6.8 km, the Melakoski loop, which is 12 km, and the Sääkskoski nature trail, which is 2.2 km.
The Höbäck-Sarjärv hiking trail is 15.5 km long, but it is also possible to walk a shorter route of 9.5 km.
The Gustavsrundan hiking trail is 20 km long. At Lillträsket, there is a resting spot with a lean-to and a toilet.
The Kortjärv hiking trail has three route options: the long route is 5.5 km, the short route is 3.3 km, and Kåtabacksleden is 2.7 km. The handcrafted animals and birds along the trail, as well as the amusing Swedish texts, have delighted walkers from near and far.
The hiking trail to Huhta-Otto’s Cave is about 1.6 km round trip. Huhta-Otto’s Cave is a large glacial erratic that was carried to its location by the glacial ice. It is 50 meters long, 6.5 meters high, and 25 meters wide.
The Merjärvi hiking trail is a varied route, about 4 km long, set in beautiful terrain. Along the route, there are several old tar pits and a barbecue spot.
